Azwin thought that the battle of the three dragons in the sky was more magnificent than the clash between all the Mozes waiting on the east side of the tower and the last remaining army of Rock. Azwin, who belatedly joined the cavalry, cut down countless Mozes, but looking at the enormous number of Mozes spread across the plain, the sword slashing itself seemed meaningless.
It had become much darker around than before. Looking up at the sky, dark clouds were gathering around Rock. It was as Lofin had said. The sun was no longer on the side of humans.
Azwin was paying more attention to the battle in the sky than to the cavalry’s battle. It wasn’t just because of Lofin’s orders. Selbayk’s movements were overwhelming Guanil and Ganel. Compared to Guanil and Ganel, which took time to change direction in the air due to their large size, Selbayk was as free as a fish in water.
The huge Guanil was struggling to catch up with Selbayk. And as Guanil was distracted by Selbayk’s movements, it was hit by Ganel’s tail and plummeted to the ground from high in the sky.
Guanil crashed to the ground, crushing dozens of Mozes. However, Guanil itself seemed to have received almost no impact. Guanil got up, trampling Mozes, took a running start and flew up again. Then it breathed black flames towards the ground. Rock’s shield bearers were engulfed in those flames.
This time, Ganel breathed fire and burned hundreds of Mozes at once. Guanil headbutted Ganel’s chest. The two dragons entangled in midair, flapping their wings irregularly. Selbayk joined in, clawing at Guanil. The three dragons, tangled as one mass, fell into the midst of the Mozes.
An enormous number of Mozes were hit by tails and trampled underfoot. But neither Guanil nor Ganel paid attention to that. Some Mozes tried to attack Ganel and Selbayk by throwing spears, but such metal could not pierce the dragons’ scales.
“They’re coming, Azwin.”
Lofin rode up and shouted. That meant “the enemy’s elite are coming.”
“It’s time for the Dragon Knights to take action. Follow closely and don’t fall behind.”
Azwin said as she looked at the elite Mozes troops that the enemy had been saving since yesterday. They were visibly much larger than other Mozes. Moreover, they were armed with armor stolen from humans yesterday.
Azwin shouted towards the cavalry.
“Advance!”
The Dragon Knights also followed alongside the charging Rock cavalry. Brander was at the lead.
“Dragon Knights, attack the left flank!”
Azwin strained to shout over the sound of hoofbeats, and Brander immediately replied.
“Understood.”
The Dragon Knights led by Brander separated again and moved away at high speed. The elite Mozes troops also charged towards the approaching cavalry without slowing down.
Soon the two species’ forces collided. The first Mozes that collided with horses were thrown off or trampled, but as soon as the horses’ speed slowed, they immediately mounted the horses and attacked the riders. In a short time, many Mozes were killed, and at the same time, many cavalrymen fell from their horses.
From the start, Azwin aimed for the black-armored knight at the front of the Mozes. Since the battle began, she had been constantly watching the position of the enemy commander. Surprisingly, there was only one commander.
‘Could that be Victor?’
There was no way Victor would come out to the front of the battlefield like that. It must be the last remaining Excelon knight.
‘If I can just take him out…’
Azwin broke through the Mozes and charged straight towards him. He too easily cut down two cavalrymen and charged directly towards Azwin coming at him. Having already experienced the skill of the 1st Knight Division in the Sky Mountains, she clashed with full force from the beginning.
He blocked Azwin’s sword and swung his spear to break her balance. With the subsequent attack of two Mozes, she finally fell from her horse.
Though not badly injured, Azwin was surrounded by Mozes. She put the shield on her back in one hand and tried to break through the encirclement while blocking the Mozes’ attacks. But facing armored Mozes was as difficult as facing armored knights. Someone rode through the encirclement on horseback, then jumped off the horse and stood next to Azwin. It was Jaymer.
“You didn’t call, so I just came.”
Instead of answering, Azwin held out her sword. Jay lightly struck her sword with a clang and stuck to her back. She immediately gave an order.
“Formation, remember?”
The Mozes crowded in so densely that Azwin and Jay barely had room to swing their swords. But the two did not retreat.
Lofin saw Azwin and Jay being buried by the Mozes and turned his horse to try to save them. Just then, the knights led by Brander attacked from the rear, breaking the formation of the elite Mozes troops. Lofin seized that opportunity to drive his horse forward, and three Dragon Knights flanked him to help.
Leaving the Mozes to the three, Lofin focused only on riding with the reins in hand, when someone attacked the back of his head. Lofin quickly ducked to avoid it. In the following attack, one of the Dragon Knights was hit and tumbled head first.
It was the Excelon knight who had taken down Azwin. He simultaneously knocked two retaliating Dragon Knights off their horses.
Lofin had no choice but to let go of the reins and block the man’s attack with his sword, but he lost his balance just from one clash. Lofin chose to fall from the horse instead. He twisted his body as his feet touched the ground and landed on his legs.
The Excelon knight twirled his spear once above his head and turned his horse. He was not someone to face alone. Lofin checked on the three Dragon Knights who had fallen first. They were all dead.
‘I didn’t want to waste energy before meeting Victor, but…’
Just as he was about to charge at Lofin, another knight approached and stopped him.
“Stop, Powel. This one is mine. You go… and cut down that one commanding the Dragon Knights.”
It was Victor. And the knight Victor pointed to was Brander.
Powel immediately rushed towards where Victor had pointed.
Victor rode his horse towards Lofin and lightly dismounted. With a gesture from him, the Mozes who were approaching to attack Lofin retreated to the surroundings. Naturally, a wide space was created between the two men.
Lofin craned his neck to check if Azwin was alive or dead. She was not visible. It’s not that he didn’t trust Azwin’s skills, but she was surrounded by such a large number of Mozes. Even though Jaymer had gone to help, it would be fortunate if he didn’t hinder Azwin with his injured body. Moreover, because Azwin was tied up like that, the Irophis Knights were also tied up, unable to do anything.
Lofin knew the Greenrich of the Royal Knights well. Although he knew how to carry out his assigned tasks well, he was not a knight who moved with free-thinking. Moreover, the force that needed to move at the most critical moment could not act independently.
Lofin glared at the approaching Victor. Victor stood naturally with one hand hanging down and the other resting on his sword. There was a strange sense of discomfort, but it took a while to realize, and only later did he understand. Victor had both of his arms.
“That guy’s name is Powel. In terms of mounted combat, at least on this field, there is no one above his skill. Including you and me. Look. Even the Dragon Knights, who could be called the best on the continent, can’t stop that one guy.”
Victor spoke while looking at Powel’s back, then shrugged.
“My other subordinates were also the best in their respective fields, but I really don’t know why they died.”
“That’s because they met someone stronger. You, are you dumber than you look?”
Lofin retorted.
Victor laughed loudly and drew his sword.
“Anyway, well done, Lofin. According to the plan, the battle would have ended this morning, but you delayed it by nearly half a day. Impressive. Do you know how sorry I was to Guanil and Ruskin because the plan was delayed?”
“Stop pretending to be relaxed. Victor, just say it simply. You’re going crazy because of me, right?”
“Yes. I’m going crazy. I’ve always known, but I always regret it. Everyone’s talking about the battle to destroy the tower, the fight to break down Rock’s magic barrier, the battle between humans and Mozes, the fight between Dragon Guanil and Dragon Ganel, this and that…”
Victor shrugged and continued.
“They’re all wrong! This was a battle to kill you. It’s not that the battle becomes easier if we kill you, but killing you itself is winning the battle.”
“Thank you.”
Lofin replied with a proud smile.
“Do you remember when we first met, Victor? Could even first experiences have been so thrilling? Whew, the feeling of cutting your arm then was really…”
“Haa, was it that good? I’ve never seen a man who said his first experience was good, but you’re also the first to say fighting me was good.”
“That’s because I’m so naturally gifted. Both in swordsmanship and in that.”
“I hope your naturally gifted swordsmanship hasn’t rusted yet.”
“Neither has rusted yet.”
Lofin rushed in and swung his sword.
Victor didn’t avoid but countered. A space of their own unfolded for the two, and they could see nothing but each other. Also, as if the space was blocked off, even sound could not be heard.
“I admit it, Lofin. You really haven’t rusted.”
Victor said, but Lofin had no leisure to speak.
“But it’s a pity. You’ve merely not rusted.”
Unlike the already tired Lofin, Victor’s face was full of confidence.
Lofin barely retreated and forced himself to speak.
“Well, well, you can still improve at that age. But what happened to that arm?”
Lofin asked, looking at Victor’s newly grown arm. Victor shook his head.
“Don’t worry about trivial things. Rather, I have a question, Lofin.”
“What is it?”
“What will you do now?”
Victor asked with a face as if posing a riddle.
“What do you mean?”
“You have the Irophis Knights in the back, but that won’t be enough to recover the already collapsed battle situation. Even if two dragons join forces, they can’t defeat Guanil. How will you…”
At that moment, a white flash of light covering the entire dusky sky spread across the plain covered with tens of thousands of Mozes and thousands of humans. A sound louder than simultaneous thunder roared. It even caused ripples in Rock’s barrier. And then came the scream of a dragon being torn apart.
One dragon fell from the air and hit the ground head-first. It was Selbayk. The dragon, with half of its neck torn off raggedly, lay limp on the ground, not moving. It was the same trace as when Katantol died in Tachisel.
That white light had emanated from the staff of the old wizard riding on Guanil’s back.
“Ruskin…”
Magic that kills dragons.
‘I told him to be so careful.’
Ruskin had been riding on Guanil’s back all along, pretending not to be there for that one decisive moment.
Victor licked his lips and corrected what he had said.
“I take back what I just said. Only one dragon remains now. So, what will you do?”
Mozes climbed like ants onto Selbayk’s already lifeless body, striking down with axes and swords. It had been tough skin that deflected arrows and spears alike, but after death, the magic power disappeared and it was torn apart by the Mozes’ butchery.
Guanil descended upon it and roared. Dark smoke rose from his body and enveloped him. Whether it was an illusion or not, Guanil’s body seemed to have swollen, now looking bigger than Ganel. All the wounds inflicted by Selbayk had healed, and his claws and teeth had grown longer.
“Look. Now no dragon can kill Guanil. How will you deal with Guanil who has grown by feeding on human deaths and human fear? The problem is that this isn’t the end. If he’s granted the final power, even Knadil won’t be able to defeat Guanil anymore. Even if Nadiuren himself descends here, he won’t be able to stop Guanil.”
Victor asked.
“What will you do, Lofin?”
Ganel, who had landed in the human territory, also roared. But compared to Guanil, Ganel’s voice was strained. Guanil and Ganel simultaneously rushed at each other as if flying, collided, and grasped each other’s hands. The dust raised by the tails of the two dragons enveloped the surroundings.
“Before I answer, let me ask one thing, Victor.”
Lofin said.
“It will be the last question.”
Victor raised his sword again.
“Ten years ago, if you had led the army of Lontamon, do you think you could have defeated Aranthia?”
Lofin also raised his sword.
Victor asked back.
“That seems like a question out of place with the situation?”
“That is my answer to your question of what I will do. If Captain Victor, not Captain Welch, had led the 1st Knight Division and stormed the Gold Gate, do you think you could have beaten us?”
☆ ☆ ☆
The wizard in the gray robe was not even five steps away from the south gate. It might just be a feeling, but he was approaching much faster than before when he had been taking one step per hour.
Governor Ruenmus, standing on the watchtower, said.
“The barrier seems to be shaking, Meylumil.”
“Master Tanya’s power has run out.”
Lumil answered.
Ruenmus asked.
“Is Captain Wolf not coming?”
“If he’s alive, tomorrow. Maybe the day after.”
“In my position, I can’t even blame him for being late.”
Ruenmus let out a long sigh.
Unable to overcome the approaching fear, one soldier shot an arrow at the wizard in the gray robe. However, that arrow returned intact to the soldier who shot it and pierced his forehead. The soldier fell from the castle wall.
No one was surprised. It was just a small fear added to the already unbearable fear.
The wizard looked up at Lumil. Tailed was smiling with a welcoming face as if meeting an old friend.
Lumil bit his lip tightly and turned to look at Arok’s tower. Tailed also looked at the tower like Lumil. And he said softly.
“Rest now, Tanya.”
And turning his head in another direction, he said.
“And now it’s time for you to return to your place, Latilda.”
☆ ☆ ☆
Latilda, who was in the top room of the Tower of Rage, suddenly lost strength at the voice coming from somewhere. She, who had been holding onto the railing, collapsed on the spot as her knees buckled. Sa-Knadil was staring into the distance and didn’t notice her reaction.
Thanks to Knadil’s magic, Latilda had been watching all the battles that had taken place since yesterday. She had been crying in pain at each and every death, but now that her eyes were open, she couldn’t see anything.
‘It’s time for you to return to your place.’
That voice she had heard in her nightmare was heard again.
When her sight returned, her two hands were stained with blood. She recalled the ecstatic moment of bathing in the blood of believers in the underground cave of Denmoju long ago. The pleasure of that moment when she had commanded like a queen, intoxicated by Zkhula, intoxicated by the smell of blood, overwhelmed her.
‘Everything will be according to your will, Lady Latilda.’
His voice gently commanded.
‘Kill Knadil!’
Latilda knew nothing of magic. She didn’t know why the barrier operated when she sat in the Tower of Rage, or the principle behind it. But now she could understand everything and use all magic. At some point, black energy was rising from her hands. The black smoke extended long like blades from each finger and curved like the talons of a carnivorous bird.
Latilda glared at Knadil’s back as he watched the battlefield.
“Everything will be according to my will.”
Latilda said as she reached out towards Knadil.
☆ ☆ ☆
Rock’s army had already been pushed back as far as they could be pushed. After many commanders had fallen to arrows shot by the Mozes, the command structure had also collapsed. The fact that they hadn’t collapsed all at once was due to the will of Rock’s soldiers to protect with their lives.
Azwin and Jaymer barely escaped from the encirclement in the midst of the mixed Mozes and humans. Jay, who had been wielding his sword with only one hand, was so exhausted that he had to be supported by Azwin.
“Why aren’t you using the Irophis Knights?”
Jay said with difficulty.
“Not now.”
Greenrich in the Irophis Knights was sending signals asking for strategy. It was unusual to send such signals during battle. It showed how urgent and anxious they were. It also meant that if Azwin or Brander had died on the battlefield, they would move independently.
Azwin picked up the fallen flag of the Dragon Knights and climbed to a slightly higher ground to wave it. It was the agreed signal.
‘Wait. Do not move.’
Azwin shook her head at Jay and said.
“If the Irophis Knights move now, we might get some breathing room. But that’s all. Throwing such powerful mobility into this muddy fight will only reduce our strength.”
“Then what are you waiting for?”
“An opportunity.”
Azwin wiped the sweat flowing from her forehead and continued speaking.
“There’s a flow even in war.”
When she wiped it, it was blood.
‘When did I get hurt? I don’t remember being hit on the head.’
“If we don’t have forces to fight when that flow comes, we end up not being able to do anything. Even if we lose without being able to reverse the flow like this, I won’t move the Irophis Knights.”
In front of the two was Lofin, struggling to fight Victor. From Azwin’s perspective, it seemed Lofin wouldn’t be able to hold out for long.
In Tachisel, Lofin had confronted Victor while using precious powder medicine on the fallen Azwin. He pretended to be confident, but in reality, he didn’t have the confidence to fight Victor alone.
‘Teacher was planning to do it alone even knowing he would lose.’
Azwin ran towards Lofin. At that moment, a black knight on horseback blocked Azwin’s path.
“I’ve been looking for you, White Wolf.”
Azwin pushed Jay to the side and said.
“Stay behind, Jaymer. I’ll handle this one.”
Jay was too exhausted to answer and just panted.
Azwin raised her sword and shield.
“You are my last opponent left alive on this battlefield. The commander of the Dragon Knights also died by my hand, and that one who was active yesterday, even killing Stanley, is in no condition to fight.”
Powel said. Jay gulped and shouted angrily.
“You killed Brander?”
“I don’t know his name. I only saw him fall from his horse after being hit by my spear.”
Just as Jay was about to step forward despite Azwin’s restraint, a heavy sound that resonated even in the heart was heard from the sky.
Ganel, one of the two dragons that had been grappling not far away, was knocked back towards Azwin by Guanil’s strength. Azwin and Jay quickly retreated, and Powel also turned his horse. The dragon’s huge body brushed the ground and passed between Azwin and Powel.
Fog-like dust rose up, obscuring Azwin’s vision.
Guanil strode through, sweeping the ground with his tail. Before the battle began, Azwin had vowed to kill Guanil herself. But now that the monster was passing right in front of her, she couldn’t move.
He had grown so large that she couldn’t even think of challenging him with the axe on her back. The intimidation was incomparable to when she saw him in Tachisel. All she could do was retreat to avoid being stepped on and duck to avoid being hit by the tail.
Guanil grabbed the fallen Ganel’s neck and threw him once more. The morning’s dragon was helplessly tossed aside, crushing Rock’s soldiers. While Azwin was briefly looking that way, a spear flew through the dust.
Azwin blocked the spear with her shield and retreated. The front legs of the horse Powel was riding fell towards her head. She dodged to the side and swung her sword, but Powel easily blocked it. Jay approached to help, but she shouted:
“Stay back. This guy has been pushing me from the start to kill you.”
Hearing this, Jay instinctively retreated.
Powel briefly slowed his attack and glared at Jay who had retreated far back.
“I was going to avenge Stanley first, but it seems I’ll have to kill you first.”
“To avenge Redward and Holten, you’ll have to kill me anyway.”
“Ah, so you were the one who killed those two?”
“Yes. In fact, I killed Nathan too!”
Powel swung his spear again. However, he couldn’t easily break through Azwin’s shield as she focused all her energy on defense. Of course, Azwin also couldn’t easily attack Powel, who was thrusting his spear strongly and quickly from horseback.
Ganel was knocked down once again by Guanil’s attack. Jay, who had retreated from the fight between Azwin and Powel, now turned to watch the battle between the two dragons.
Ganel tried to get up with difficulty but was eventually trampled under Guanil’s feet. The blood Ganel spat covered the corpses of soldiers sacrificed in the battle between the two dragons. Guanil, while stepping on Ganel, glared at the Tower of Blessing standing right next to him.
The wizards inside the tower screamed and tried to escape. But before the wizards could escape the tower, Guanil swung his tail and struck the Tower of Blessing. Seeing the tower tilt greatly to one side, Guanil swung his tail again and struck the opposite side of the tower. As the third attack followed, the Tower of Blessing could not withstand it.
Guanil shouted in an evil voice that humans had never heard before:
“Collapse. Shatter once again like Arok’s barrier that fell a thousand years ago.”
There was no fourth attack. The Tower of Blessing, already cracked on all sides, collapsed as if it couldn’t withstand Guanil’s voice.
The blue magic barrier covering Rock rippled. The color of the barrier, which was already fading, almost disappeared.
☆ ☆ ☆
Tanya was breathing faintly. Occasionally she would tremble her shoulders and speak unintelligible words, expressing pain. She regained enough consciousness to put her lips to the water cup offered, but couldn’t drink even a sip properly and coughed it out. The healing powder sprinkled on her remained on the floor where it had fallen. There was no healing light that had saved her dying self eight years ago.
Irine looked down at Tanya lying on her lap. She suddenly thought how young this white-faced wizard looked.
Irine gently held her shoulder and said into her ear:
“You did well, Tanya. Rest now.”
Irine laid her down in that spot.
Tanya asked Irine with trembling eyes:
“Ka, Kassel…?”
Irine was so sad about the current situation where she couldn’t even lie.
“Forget about him.”
At that moment, the ripple that started from the north reached Arok’s tower. As one side of the barrier collapsed, the balance maintained by the three towers also collapsed.
Tanya exhaled a long breath and went limp. At that moment, the blue barrier disappeared.
The Rock Zone was no more.
“Tailed…”
Irine got up from her seat, looking down at Tanya lying powerless. Leaving her to the maids and the wizard, Irine went down the stairs.
Vena Esarck was reacting violently.
‘Don’t give up, Irine. Don’t give up!’
It seemed like she could hear Tailed’s voice from somewhere. It was fine even if it was just her imagination. Irine believed it was the ‘real’ Tailed’s voice.
“I won’t give up.”
Irine ran down the stairs as if sliding and left Arok’s tower.
☆ ☆ ☆
The Rock Zone was gone.
The moment the magic blocking him disappeared, the wizard in the gray robe took the last five steps in large strides. And he put his hand on the city gate. The gate that hadn’t collapsed even after being hit dozens of times by catapults shattered like kindling.
Tailed entered through the broken gate and finally set foot in Rock.
“It took two days.”
In front of him stood Meylumil and Dunmel, while other soldiers were standing far away. The councilors were all told to take refuge in the council building, but Governor Ruenmus didn’t listen and was mixed among the soldiers.
“I don’t know what you’re trying to do.”
Tailed swung his arm towards those soldiers. Dozens of soldiers were pushed back by an invisible force. Tailed smiled and said:
“Hey, Lumil. Against me now, you’re no different from those soldiers. Step back. I’ve just come to let my poor disciple rest.”
Lumil checked if Ruenmus was safe among the fallen soldiers and said:
“We can’t let that happen.”
“Don’t you have no choice but to let it happen?”
Tailed smiled gently and reached out his hand towards Lumil. Lumil immediately lowered his stance.
At that moment, a horse came running and stopped behind Meylumil. It was Irine. She jumped off the horse immediately and stood next to Lumil, drawing her sword.
Tailed folded his outstretched hand.
Lumil kept watching Tailed and asked:
“What about Tanya?”
“From now on, she’s our responsibility.”
Irine said.
Tailed looked at the sword she had drawn and asked:
“Wasn’t that sword pretty useless eight years ago too?”
“It will be useful today. Because even you will be afraid of this sword.”
“Ah, scary indeed. But will you be able to stab me? You couldn’t do it in front of the White Gate.”
“I promised Tanya. That I wouldn’t hesitate.”
“Then I should bring some reinforcements too.”
Tailed laughed playfully, scratching the back of his head, then spread his arms wide. Behind the fluttering robe, Lumil and Irine’s master revealed himself.
It was Grandol.
Irine whispered:
“Lumil, Dunmel. Please take care of Grandol. I’ll handle the Lord of the Undying.”
“You can’t block Tailed’s magic alone.”
“The two of you probably can’t stop Grandol either. It’s time we do the impossible for each other.”
“That’s true.”
Lumil replied and said to Dunmel only with his lips:
‘I’ll take the front. You aim for a surprise attack.’
Dunmel nodded.
Tailed smiled as if he understood everything the two had said to each other and said:
“To face Grandol with just the strength of two people groaning with injured bodies… Hm?”
Tailed suddenly stopped talking and stared at a point in the air. Then he spoke in a kind voice to a place where no one was:
“I allow it, Guanil.”
☆ ☆ ☆
The momentum of the Moz army didn’t slow down at all, but the human army had lost its strength. They were finally defeated in the battle to protect the Tower of Blessing. Azwin fighting Powel, Lofin who had been fighting Victor, and everyone else had to acknowledge defeat seeing the collapsing tower.
Guanil grabbed the fallen Ganel’s neck and lifted him up. Then he opened his mouth towards Rock’s soldiers.
“Behold the powerlessness of this dragon that was supposed to protect you. This will be the sacrifice that announces the end of you humans.”
Ruskin, riding on Guanil’s back, raised his staff. The white light that started from the tip of the staff spread widely and enveloped Ganel’s entire body. The dispersed light began to gather into one point, and that point was aimed at Ganel’s neck.
“Witness Ganel’s death!”
Guanil shouted.
At that moment, a sword flew in from a direction no one had predicted and hit Ruskin’s staff.
The white light that extended from the staff passed Ganel’s neck and pierced the empty plain. Rocks in the area touched by the light shattered and the ground cracked. If there had been an army there, it would have been a terrifying magic that could have vaporized a thousand people.
The light disappeared, and Ganel was safe.
Behind Guanil was Brander, the Dragon Knight. As if throwing the sword had been his last strength, he was swaying on his horse. His face was all dark red with blood flowing from his forehead, and his armor was broken, hanging only on his shoulders.
“Just because the tower has fallen…, the, the pride of Rock hasn’t fallen!”
Powel, who was in front of Azwin, tilted his head.
“Was that guy still alive…?”
Black flames spewed from the mouth of the enraged Guanil towards Brander. But the flames spewed from Ganel’s mouth were even faster. Guanil and Ruskin riding on him were engulfed in red flames and flew for a while before crashing into the plain.
Ganel, bleeding red all over his body, said:
“Soldiers of Ganelrock, knights of Arok. Even if I die, don’t give up. Even in death, I will become your guardian deity.”
Ganel shouted towards the battlefield with all his might:
“Fight. I will fight with you. Die. I will die with you.”
Rock’s soldiers all shouted in unison. And once again they raised their swords towards the Mozes.
Guanil, who had been engulfed in flames, quickly got up again. Even Ruskin riding on his back didn’t seem to have suffered much damage. The black smoke enveloping the black scales quickly healed the injured parts and burnt areas.
“Lord of darkness and death, grant me the final power.”
Guanil spoke in an ancient language towards somewhere, paused for a moment waiting for an answer. And soon he showed a smile revealing white teeth.
“Thank you.”
Guanil shouted and rushed in to grab Ganel again. As the two dragons clashed, Brander, who was nearby, was swept away and disappeared into the dust.
Now Ganel could hardly resist against Guanil. Guanil slammed the golden dragon to the ground and stomped on his face with his huge foot. In that state, Guanil shouted towards the human army.
“I command the humans.”
His voice echoed thunderously across the sky.
“Die! Die like Ganel is dying!”
The scales covering Guanil’s body began to crack. The horns on his face grew extremely long and both shoulders swelled up. Inside the cracked scales, even stronger black scales sprouted, and the mane grown on his forearms rose like blades. The tail grew longer and the wings spread wider.
“Your resistance ends here. The time of the morning dragon protecting you is over.”
Guanil roared.
“From now on, it’s my time!”
The darkness spewing from the black wings began to cover the battlefield. The black light that covered the collapsed Tower of Blessing covered the Moz army, the human army, and Rock, which had lost its magic barrier.
The black wave rushing from the east flowed like a fierce wind, filling the south and the north. The sun, which had resisted the darkness to the end, was setting in the west along with the sunset.
The wave of darkness raised by Guanil pushed westward.
“Sink!”
Guanil pointed at the sun and commanded. The sun, which had been emitting beautiful light spreading the red sunset, lost its light to the black curtain.
“Sink!”
As if obeying Guanil’s command, the sun disappeared below the horizon.
“This will be the last sun you see.”
Ganel looked to the west with trembling eyes. The moment the last point of sunlight disappeared behind the western hill, everything turned gray.
Ganel closed his eyes powerlessly. The peeled scales no longer emitted the mysterious golden light as before. Now he had no strength left to stand.
The black curtain created by Guanil’s wings finally filled the west completely. And it completely devoured the place where the sun had sunk.
At that moment, the sun rose again.
Ganel shook his head hard, thinking he was seeing things as he was about to die. The blood pooled in his mouth scattered everywhere.
It wasn’t a mistake. The sun that had sunk in the west was rising again, holding a white light.
Guanil also blinked blankly.
It wasn’t the sun. It was a brightly shining sword. The first to recognize the man holding the sword was Azwin.
“Kassel!”
Lofin and Victor couldn’t believe their eyes either. The reinforcements from Aranthia, which could never have arrived in time, had reached them.
It was the Wolf Knights.
