White Wolves – Chapter 123

The black-skinned Lemif woman groaned softly and stirred. Everyone was startled as if waking from a dream and turned to look at her.

While Kassel and Lofin were still hesitating, not fully awake from the hallucination, Rai, who had regained his senses a little faster, approached her. Then he touched her face and said,

“Just, having, a nightmare.”

Thanks to the Lemif woman’s movement, Lofin seemed to have a chance to relax. He took several deep breaths as if he hadn’t been able to breathe for a while, then spoke to the goddess.

“You just gave almost all the answers to the questions I have. But you seem to have avoided the question I’m most curious about and consider most important. Did I misinterpret the memory you showed me?”

Nadiuren, or more precisely Nadiuren borrowing Knadil’s body, tilted her head slightly and replied,

“That’s right. I wanted to avoid mentioning it as much as possible. So from now on, do not add or subtract, nor distort what I say.”

“Yes.”

Kassel answered, but felt uneasy. Lofin felt the same.

“You briefly saw the ‘death’ that lent power to Guanil a thousand years ago. ‘It’ was a being that existed with me since before Knadil was born, before Acrand and the Sky Mountains were distinguished, and before Lemifs and humans were differentiated in form.”

The goddess spoke without mixing any dramatic descriptions into the story. The goddess’s joy when showing her memory of Queen Sanadiel completely disappeared. Her lowered voice began to pressure the two again.

“I wanted life and he craved death. It was a being that wanted to kill everything and even wanted to die itself. Kassel, did you say what I call history, you call myths? This matter is something I too have forgotten long ago as memory, as history, as myth. Back then, I wasn’t a dragon either…”

Darkness thickened behind Nadiuren’s head, and everything coming out of her mouth became a language of magic. The magic of curses began to fill the cave. Lofin was startled and tried to draw his sword, but it wouldn’t come out. Kassel’s national treasure sword drew itself out, but was pushed back by an invisible force and got stuck again.

Kassel was shocked by the strange event and felt like his heart had stopped.

‘What is happening now?’

Kassel froze, seized by extreme fear. In fact, the cave, which had been warm with the dragon’s heat, froze over. White breath puffed out like smoke from Nadiuren’s mouth. The shadows reflected by the red light emitted from Nadiuren’s scales were squirming with strange shapes.

“We inevitably had to fight, and that fight erased many things that should have existed on this land and created many things that didn’t exist. The battle was very long. Very, very… long.”

Nadiuren spoke, not at all concerned about the phenomena unfolding around her.

“I won that fight, but I was wounded and became a being that is not immortal, and the defeated one lost even its form and became a ghost wandering the continent. Afterwards, when I finally transformed into a dragon’s body and became the being called Sa-Nadiuren, it was also reborn borrowing a dragon’s body under the name Guanil.”

A being that should not have been born in the Sky Mountains.

Kassel turned around at the eerie energy attacking from behind. The cry of a monster was heard from somewhere in the cave. The enemy that had invaded the sacred land of the goddess circled around the goddess, echoing through the cave. But the goddess ignored it.

“The fight with the evil dragon that forgot even the reason to kill me occurred at a time that I would call history and you would call myth. I killed it and exiled it to the continent where magical power was still weak, and raised mountains between the continents to create a shield to block it. That is the Sky Mountains. Even now, only the desire to destroy everything and the desire to kill me have survived in it, and it is trying to cross that shield.”

“Sa… Nadiuren, it seems its power is inside this cave, but?”

Kassel asked, terrified by the black shadows filling the surroundings.

“Don’t worry. It’s just the remnants of its breath still lingering in the Sky Mountains. In my land, that power cannot harm the living.”

As Nadiuren gently waved her arm, all the black things tormenting the two disappeared.

Kassel barely caught his breath. Lofin also barely let out a sigh of relief. There was a thud from behind. Looking back, Rai was sitting down. Rai was sweating profusely as if he had just been rained on, and he put his hand on his forehead and shook his head.

“Are you okay?”

Lofin asked.

“Scary.”

Rai said honestly.

“It would be a pain hard to bear for a Lemif.”

Nadiuren said.

“I understand, Goddess. Is my job is to prevent him from crossing the shield?”

Kassel asked, and Nadiuren answered,

“That’s right. But he rules over death, so he does not die. And just as his power cannot kill me, my power can no longer kill him either.”

“So he used human power? Excelon! 10 years ago, human knights invaded this land and went around killing dragons, and their final target was none other than you, the Goddess here, right?”

“You could say it was learning after trial and error. Dragon hunters. That is his first army to fight me. The reborn Guanil in the Sky Mountains is the second preparation, and the monsters modeled after Lemifs are the third preparation. But before all that, the biggest army he prepared was brought from the human world. He already has the power of two in his hands, and that power will be the greatest threat to Acrand and the Sky Mountains. That’s why I called the current captain of the Wolf Knights to this place.”

If Excelon was the power to kill dragons, and Guanil was the power to threaten the goddess, and Mozes was the monster army to bring down the human army…

‘Nadiuren just said even these three powers are secondary. The power of two that will be the biggest threat. What is that? No, who is that?’

Lofin seemed to have the same thought as Kassel and said in a small voice,

“One of the two powers you mentioned is Lutia, right? It was said there is a traitor in Lutia. And I was almost certain that traitor was the Grand Master of Lutia.”

“That’s right.”

Nadiuren answered immediately.

“The successor of the mage Lutia who killed Guanil a thousand years ago has now turned the power of magic against me. How should we handle that tremendous threat?”

Knadil also said he couldn’t win if Guanil and that mage were together. Kassel realized anew how big of an event the Grand Master’s betrayal was. It was not something that would simply end with the downfall of Lutia.

‘Tanya.’

Even though he tried to forget, Kassel automatically thought of her name. Lofin continued,

“And could the other power be the Wolf Knights by any chance?”

“That’s also correct.”

Kassel was dazed for a moment, then forgetting his manners towards the goddess, he shouted,

“What kind of absurd words are you saying?”

When Nadiuren didn’t say anything, Lofin directly explained.

“The Lord of the Undying was blocked three times by the same human alliance. A thousand years ago, he was thwarted by the Wolf Knight ‘Nadiel’ and the sorceress ‘Lutia,’ 10 years ago, he was also blocked by the Wolf Knights led by Quain and the power of Tailed, and recently, he was blocked by you two, Kassel and Tanya. Nadiuren called this trial and error. If I were…”

Lofin continued with great emphasis.

“…If I were the mastermind who had repeatedly failed in attacking Aranthia since a thousand years ago, I would rather put all my efforts into making the very power that blocked me my own. So I guessed it was those two.”

“Th-that’s absurd. Which of the Wolf Knights would betray?”

Kassel thought of the faces of all the knights he knew. He couldn’t even imagine that any of them had a plot to assassinate Sanadiel.

“I could only foresee the moment the Grand Master of Lutia lent his power to him, so I don’t know about the Wolf Knights’ betrayal that happened after that.”

Nadiuren slowly raised her body and tried to wrap up the story.

“With those two powers, he resurrected Guanil and created another traitor of Lutia to shatter the White Mystery. And internally, he made the Fvoe Lemifs point their spears at their own god, and externally, he has now come to threaten the land Le-Ganel Landor named. As read from Kassel’s memory, that power has already brought down the Gold Gate. Now there’s not much time left.”

Kassel was too confused and scared to know what to say. He was at a loss as to what he could do against such great power, and how the power of a small human like himself could have any impact on this huge flow.

‘Let’s think slowly. It’s always been like that. First, what I can do!’

Kassel closed his eyes and pondered Nadiuren’s words, then felt a strange sense of incongruity.

“I…”

The moment Kassel tried to speak, Lofin opened his mouth first.

“N-Nadiuren, you seem to have caused some confusion now!”

“What confusion?”

Nadiuren asked in a voice that wasn’t offended at all. Rather, it sounded like she was asking them to point out her mistake.

“If you’re thinking back on a thousand years of memory, you might not be able to properly grasp the flow of time for recent trivial events. But for humans, a short period of a few years is very long and important. I think you made a mistake in that part.”

The goddess slowly shook her head.

“Comparing the time of humans and dragons, a few years for me is like a few hours or days for you. Then, do you remember things from a few years ago more accurately than things from a few days ago? There’s no mistake in the time frame of what I said.”

Lofin was daring to argue with the goddess’s decisive words without agreeing. Kassel realized what Lofin was committing the rudeness for.

Just now, Nadiuren spoke a terrible truth.

‘He created another traitor of Lutia and shattered the White Mystery.’

What did she say before that?

‘The successor of the sorceress Lutia who killed Guanil a thousand years ago has now turned the power of magic against me.’

Kassel widened his eyes and looked at Lofin as if seeking help. But it was Lofin who needed help.

The ones who had caused the confusion were Lofin and Kassel.

‘Another traitor of Lutia?’

Kassel was shocked.

‘There were two traitors of Lutia?’

☆ ☆ ☆

Dunmel leaned on Loyal’s shoulder and climbed the tower stairs. He lowered his hand from time to time and did sign language. Tanya watched in amazement as all his expressions were contained in his short hand movements. But the content was so gloomy that she soon forgot about it.

Dunmel was talking about the betrayal of Grand Master Ruskin. The anguish of Dethain, who was the first to find out that he had betrayed Lutia, was evident in Dunmel’s sign language.

‘Dethain, you were the one who truly protected Lutia.’

Tanya clenched her teeth. It was so unfortunate that there was no time to mourn his death now. It was just as painful to lose the other masters who had cherished her like their own daughter.

Loyal conveyed Dunmel’s sign language and occasionally looked back at Tanya. She listened to the process of the masters dying one by one stoically, trying not to show tears. As a result, Loyal lost focus on conveying the conversation and later spoke casually.

The place where Dunmel stopped was a room a few floors down from the top. Tanya thought she still had to go up and asked with one foot on the stairs,

“Didn’t you talk about the portraits of the successive Grand Masters? The room with the portraits is the room at the very top, below this floor.”

Dunmel spoke in sign language and Loyal conveyed again.

“He says he moved the painting he wanted to show here because the room was burned down by Ruskin’s attack.”

The story Loyal casually conveyed also included the story of the final confrontation between Ruskin and Dunmel. Dunmel didn’t describe how his performance was, but Tanya was amazed by Dunmel’s power just by the fact that he survived Ruskin’s magic.

‘If I were to face Ruskin head-on in a magic duel, could I win? No matter how much he unsealed his power, it would be difficult. He was someone that all the masters of Lutia combined couldn’t match.’

The impact of Ruskin’s betrayal seemed like it would only grow with time.

“That room was burned down?”

Tanya asked.

“It didn’t spread to the entire tower, but there’s probably nothing left.”

Loyal said.

“I’ll be right back. Wait here.”

Tanya wanted to see with her own eyes, so she went up the stairs alone.

In Ruskin’s burned room, only some broken glass and empty potion bottles were left. Some books had their covers burned but the contents inside were still remaining. Even skimming through, they were important books.

‘I should ask the students of Kainswick. If they put their minds to it, I think the books can be restored.’

Tanya opened the cabinet where the most important things were kept. It was locked with a simple spell, but of course, Tanya knew how to easily open it.

Inside were history books of Lutia, ancient magic materials, potion bottles hundreds of years old, a staff of a mage who served as Grand Master several generations ago, magic jewels, and things like dragon horns. Perhaps because they were protected by magic, they were not affected by the flames at all.

‘Thank goodness. Even though Ruskin betrayed us, it seems he didn’t intend to ruin even these trivial parts.’

The precious items that could not be measured by value were sparsely arranged in a wide space so as not to affect each other. The arrangement was almost the same as when she opened it a few years ago.

Tanya carefully crawled inside. It was uncomfortable, perhaps because she had grown a little taller than when she went in before, but she quickly found the item she wanted. It was a wine with sediment quietly settled.

It was the finest wine bestowed upon Lutia by the regent of Carnelock a long time ago, but it became a legendary wine with only one bottle left in the world because the wine warehouse at the production site burned down right after its release. Some timid sorcerors couldn’t bring themselves to drink it, and the ownership kept changing for about thirty years until it was passed on to Golbein.

The reason Tanya got that wine was thanks to Golbein’s ignorance. Tailed, who was away in Aranthia due to the continental war, said in his last letter to prepare wine to drink together as he would return soon. Golbein, who knew nothing about alcohol, readily gave that wine to Tanya, and Tanya immediately stored it here.

If a wine connoisseur from Carnelock learned that this wine was here, they might come looking with tens of thousands of gold.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Tanya carefully carried the wine bottle and returned to the room where Dunmel and Loyal were waiting. Dunmel first showed the portrait he had safely stored from the fire. And he signed with one hand again.

Loyal conveyed,

“Do you know the subject of this painting?”

Being asked such a question at the very moment she was holding that wine made her want to cry with longing again.

‘At times like this, the face before unsealing was much more comfortable. Because it hardens stiffly and naturally suppresses expressions when sad or happy.’

But now she had to try hard to look calm.

“I do.”

Tanya answered respectfully.

Dunmel’s sign language continued to be conveyed through Loyal.

“You are this person’s disciple, correct?”

“That’s right.”

“And this person is the very mage who helped Aranthia in the continental conquest war 10 years ago, right?”

Tanya spoke sharply to Dunmel, who was signing, not to Loyal, who was conveying.

“His name is Tailed, and he served as the forty-fourth Grand Master and disappeared 8 years ago in the battle against the Lord of the Undying along with the White Wolves at the time. Why are you asking such a thing?”

Loyal, who was conveying the sign language, was startled for no reason. But Dunmel put down the portrait and continued signing with gentle hand movements.

“Dunmel says he asked such a question because he wants to convey his own story that he experienced 8 years ago. He apologizes. But Dunmel couldn’t solve that question, so he didn’t tell other masters on purpose, and with Heidi’s help, he found out that you are the disciple of the person in this portrait, and he’s directly conveying it to you now.’

“Um, Dunmel says he has met your teacher Tailed.”

The things she had been investigating and wandering around for the Lontamon incident flashed by like a panorama. How much had she searched for his traces? How much had she missed him? And here, a strange person was claiming to have seen Tailed.

Dunmel’s sign language continued.

“Even though I am a Wolf Knight, I know very little about the battle against the Lord of the Undying that is said to have taken place 8 years ago.”

Loyal’s interpretation changed as if Dunmel was speaking directly.

“In fact, since I was an assassin who tried to assassinate the Queen, I also tried to be indifferent to the knighthood and history of the Wolf Knights due to that guilt. Only recently have I overheard a little about that fight, and I found out that at the time when Master Karlsten and I tried to go in to assassinate the Queen, there were no other White Wolves and only Master Quain stood in our way, which matched up with a few things.”

“It seems like a very important story. I’m curious about your story and want to hear about it, but what does it have to do with my master? Why are you mentioning Tailed and the Queen’s assassination together?”

Tanya’s anxiety kept growing, and she couldn’t calm her pounding heart.

“That’s because I’m still not sure if the timing matches. I always thought of that event roughly as 10 years ago, so I couldn’t bother to count the exact years with my fingers. Since I only recently tried to determine it with my weak memory, please understand that this could be wrong.”

Dunmel glanced at the portrait again and continued signing. Even Loyal, who had been casually interpreting the sign language earlier, was careful.

“But I definitely remember that face. My master even told me to remember that face and reveal it someday as his last words before he died by Quain’s sword. I may not remember the exact time, but I remember the face clearly.’

Tanya’s lips trembled.

‘He’s trying to lie. This Wolf Knight is trying to lie in sign language!’

Tanya wanted to use magic to block Loyal’s voice, which was conveying Dunmel’s sign language into words.

“And at the moment I was being chased down, engulfed in Ruskin’s flames, I saw that face again.”

Dunmel pointed to the portrait again and said in sign language. Loyal immediately conveyed as he had been doing.

“The person who commissioned the assassination of the Queen of Aranthia was none other than this person.”

Tanya dropped the wine bottle she was holding. With a thud, the shattered pieces scattered around with the red liquid.

☆ ☆ ☆

“The Excelon climbed the Sky Mountains to kill dragons right after Carnelock was conquered 10 years ago. To be precise, it was the Excelon 1st knights.”

Lofin was speaking at length as if challenging the goddess Nadiuren.

“But the actual time they started killing dragons was roughly 7 or 8 years ago. At that time, the Grand Master was Tailed, and he disappeared. And the traitor of Lutia… if it really is Ruskin, as far as I know, he became the Grand Master only about 2 years or 1 year ago on the condition that he would ‘sit in that position only until Tailed returned.’ If you’re in Larden, you get to hear that much news, so the timing shouldn’t be too off. So for me, the words about the Grand Master of Lutia and another traitor of Lutia…”

Even as he spoke, Lofin was frustrated that his own argument already contained clues that proved Nadiuren’s words. Lofin gritted his teeth, shook his head, and continued.

“8 years ago, Tailed disappeared. In order to believe he was alive, I clung to all sorts of trivial traces and kept blabbering that he had simply disappeared. But deep down, I believed he was dead.”

Lofin continued, almost sobbing.

“But it would have been better if he died. Does it mean that he, Tailed…, lent his power to the Lord of the Undying? That he was exploited by the power of evil? Impossible!”

“Lofin, child of man. If it was such a painful thing, I should have given you more time to tell you. However, it’s reality. It’s a harsh reality, but accept it.”

A gentle voice resembling Queen Sanadiel enveloped the sobbing Lofin. Kassel couldn’t say anything.

Nadiuren continued as if comforting him.

“In the battle a thousand years ago, Guanil died. But he cast a curse on himself that was like a blessing. By that curse, he would not die by any living being, and all dead beings would be under his control. Did you say he died? He is a being that cannot die.”

Kassel barely expressed his intention on behalf of Lofin, who couldn’t speak.

“I still don’t understand. So does that mean Tailed betrayed Lutia and is helping the Lord of the Undying?”

“Do you remember the explanation I first gave about the title Guanil? Are you still confused about whether to think of the Lord of the Undying and the being called Guanil separately or the same? Let me put it this way. What do you call me now? Am I Nadiuren borrowing Knadil’s body, or Knadil containing Nadiuren’s soul? It’s the same. It’s natural that you can’t think differently.”

Kassel frowned.

“What?”

“You saw the gray-robed sorceror in Aranthia. Didn’t you see his face?”

“I didn’t see it.”

Lofin clutched his head and sat down. Kassel became more confused.

No one saw the face inside the robe. Not Kassel, not Tanya, not Sheyden.

There was only one person who saw it.

Irine!

And Irine couldn’t cut him down.

“Oh my god.”

Kassel widened his eyes.

Nadiuren dwelling in Knadil’s body, Knadil containing Nadiuren’s soul.

The Lord of the Undying, Master Tailed.

And the traitor of Lutia.

“Then that gray-robed sorceror is…?”

☆ ☆ ☆

Tanya was stupidly staring at the red wine flowing on the floor, and Loyal worriedly looked at Tanya and asked Dunmel,

“But Dunmel, why are you suddenly calling this person the ‘Lord of the Undying’? Is there another fact I don’t know?”

Tanya looked at Dunmel with trembling eyes. Dunmel looked into her eyes and didn’t bother answering Loyal’s question.

Tanya also didn’t question why Dunmel was telling such an absurd, inconsistent, and evil lie. At this moment, she forgot the important clues Lofin had told her and the many clues she had found herself, and was recalling only one scene in her head.

When Kassel stopped the Excelon knights in front of the White Gate and the Lord of the Undying stood before Queen Sanadiel… Irine couldn’t cut him down.

In a situation where anyone could see she could cut him, she sheathed her sword. Because the opponent was too strong? No, if it were Irine, she would have seen it through to the end even if she knew she would lose at that moment.

‘Irine, whose face did you see inside that cloak?’

Tanya covered her mouth and groaned.

‘When I was wandering the wilderness of Aranthia, the gray-robed sorceror attacked me. But I never saw the face inside the robe until the end. Why did he try so hard to hide his face? If it was a terrible face symbolizing death, he should have shown it to me to break my spirit instead!’

Wherever the Lord of the Undying attacked or passed, traces of Tailed were always there as well. Lofin saw it too, and she confirmed it. And Tanya and Lofin simultaneously interpreted it as ‘Tailed tracking the Lord of the Undying.’

‘I was complacent. I wanted to believe that.’

Dunmel reached the answer the fastest. And Tanya had to agree with that conclusion as well.

The Lord of the Undying, who wore a gray robe, resurrected Captain Welch, and crossed the Gold Gate, was none other than Tailed, the Grand Master of Lutia.

☆ ☆ ☆

A short silence passed. Nadiuren didn’t seem to want that silence, so she opened her mouth herself to break it.

“I have not yet said everything, but any more would be a waste of time. You have a task, Kassel Wolf. The successor of Nadiel and Ztokh Worg. The Lord of the Undying seeks to attack the nation north of the Sky Mountains again by combining the two powers he gathered and the power Guanil gathered in the Sky Mountains.”

The goddess pointed with her finger as she continued.

“Stop them. If the eastern nation of Aranthia falls, my blessing will no longer be able to hold them back.”

“Specifically, what should I do? It’s too big of a task, I can’t grasp it.”

Kassel spoke honestly.

“Gather the power of humans. As it was a thousand years ago, unite that power into one again.”

Kassel nodded with difficulty.

‘Can I do such a thing? Me? No, even if we gather, can we defeat the enemy?’

At some point, the Fvoe Lemif woman woke up. It seemed she had been awake with her eyes open for a while. She kept sending troubled and scared looks at Kassel and Lofin, especially Rai. She spoke to Nadiuren with Knadil’s face in their language. Then Nadiuren responded.

“They came for the same reason as you. Do not worry.”

As expected, the goddess was speaking in human language, but it seemed to be heard in Lemif language to the Lemifs. The Lemif woman said something again.

Nadiuren closed her eyes, waited, and tilted her chin towards the ceiling.

“Now I end my time. I will leave the rest to Knadil. Do not worry, children. He cannot speak but he hears everything, and he cannot move but he is awake. Soon I will have Knadil replace me.”

There was a loud sound when the goddess dwelled in Knadil’s body, but it was quiet when she left.

When he opened his eyes again, the standing red dragon was Knadil. He spoke in a thick voice similar to the goddess’s. At first, the loud voice was burdensome, but compared to the goddess’s voice, it became relatively easier to listen to.

“She left the rest to me, so I will oversee everything until she wakes up. The matter in the north of the Sky Mountains is important, but the story that will unfold from now on is also important to maintain the great power of the Wolf Knights. Princess of Larunton, Sermei. Speak! Within this space, the language barrier shall vanish.”

Sermei felt the change for a moment, then spoke to Kassel. Kassel was surprised that she was speaking in human language. At the same time, what Kassel said was also conveyed to her in Lemif language. Rather, Lofin, who could speak both languages, was confused.

Sermei asked,

“Do you know Gerald and Azwin?”

“I do!”

Kassel showed a reaction so active that it surprised Sermei.

“I am Sermei, the maiden who awakens dragons and the princess of Larunton.”

Kassel approached her a little, and she continued.

“There were many sacrifices to come here, and in the midst of that, I met two people from the human nation of Aranthia. Those two helped me and came to this vicinity, but Azwin was captured by the Lemifs of Tachisel. Gerald brought me here, but as soon as he met Sa-Knadil, he left to save Azwin.”

Sermei looked up at Knadil and asked,

“High Lord, when did that Ugeh man leave? How long have I been unconscious here?”

“It was two days ago. You performed the ritual to awaken the goddess for a full day, then slept for another day.”

Sermei, who was speaking while sitting because she had no strength to get up, at first sobbed and then burst into tears. Her crying was so sorrowful that Kassel, who didn’t know the reason, couldn’t even dare to comfort her.

She spoke through tears,

“Then it’s already too late. Ah, my Gider led them to death, so the prophecy I made also became a part of that evil Gider. Goddess, Knadil, do not forgive my sin. I drove the two of them to death.”

Knadil shook his head at Sermei’s crying.

“If that is a sin, do not ask me for forgiveness, Sermei. I also saw death in the future of the one who guided you.”

‘The death of the one who guided Sermei? Is he talking about Gerald?’

Kassel gritted his teeth and listened to the dragon’s words.

“I mentioned the dark future to him, but that jovial human warrior said with a strong will that would make even my prophecy meaningless. He said he had to go save the woman he had no right to like without putting his life on the line, so don’t block his path. He even asked to borrow a weapon to kill Guanil. How could I not grant that request? How could I break that strong will?”

Knadil continued bitterly.

“Yes, I had no choice but to give him the sword even though I knew he would die. Since he was going to go even if I stopped him, I just gave him Nadiuren’s token and told him not to get lost in the Sky Mountains. If death led his Gider, he would have gone to the Lemif nation of Tachisel now.”

Knadil let out a big sigh.

“The enemy made time their ally. At least there is no time to reverse the death of that great warrior.”

Suddenly Kassel shouted.

“What do you mean? Aren’t you speaking as if Gerald and Azwin’s deaths are decided?”

Kassel glared at Sermei. She flinched in fear for a moment. Kassel had no room to consider her feelings.

“Lofin!”

When Kassel called him, Lofin was also already ready to leave.

“I will go. You stay here and assist Master Knadil.”

“I can’t do that.”

“The goddess has not awakened yet! She will have more to say. You need to be here!”

“I am their captain!”

“I am Azwin’s teacher!”

Lofin spoke more strongly. The two glared at each other as if having a staring contest.

“I have to go.”

Lofin said.

“But… Lofin alone?”

“I will go with Rai. He was able to carry me while flying yesterday, so he will fly today as well. At least we can shorten the time a little.”

“Still, it’s too much for you alone!”

Lofin smirked.

“Don’t worry. This time, I won’t hesitate to use Esark’s power.”

Knadil intervened and said,

“If it’s Esark’s power, you can defeat Guanil. But in Tachisel, there will already be a power too great for you to handle alone gathered.”

“Then what should we do?”

Lofin asked.

“Guanil’s veil makes it difficult for me to foresee the events in Tachisel. So wait. The time for the goddess to rise by her own power is near. Then I can also leave this place and directly unleash the dragon’s wrath upon the Fvoe Lemifs who betrayed the dragons.”

Knadil made a loud sound. The entire cave vibrated.

The Master of the Sky Mountains finally spread his wings and said,

“I will also join this fight.”
