Urek fell into deep thought.
Annwood Academy Instructor.
Among those who received excellent grades at the Academy, only volunteers are accepted and selected, then trained alongside special admission students who entered through different routes.
After two years of hellish training, only the top 20% are appointed as instructors.
But that’s not the end of it.
They must remain at the Academy for five years serving as instructors while simultaneously carrying out missions assigned by the Empire.
‘They even assign missions beyond one’s actual skill level.’
After grinding away like that for five years, they finally finish their instructor duties and graduate.
An Academy instructor position that requires a minimum of seven years, or ten years if you include the student period.
The mission difficulty was so high that a significant number of instructors met their deaths.
Yet the reason the Academy instructor position is called a super-elite course?
Because as compensation, you’re granted a constitutional ‘authority’ that allows you to enter anywhere you desire.
The Imperial Knights, the frontlines, high-ranking administrative positions, the Eight Pillars’ knight orders, even hostile noble families.
You can go anywhere you want, and the chosen place cannot exercise the right of refusal.
If they exceeded their personnel capacity, they had to make room by clearing out existing members.
The position wouldn’t be entry-level either—at minimum, you’d start as a manager or adjutant of that organization.
‘It’s an overpowered benefit. It’s practically like being able to choose any government official position or team leader spot at a major corporation.’
But there were few who complained. Because their abilities transcended imagination.
It would be stranger to oppose someone with proven skills joining you.
Perhaps that’s why at some point, it became the standard for ranking noble families.
The places they chose were considered good workplaces with potential for future development.
Having even one person choose your family would make the family’s honor soar.
For the past few years, there had even been backroom deals trying to get them to choose their families.
Truly a super-elite course and the fastest path to achieving one’s ‘dream.’
But only a select few can walk this path.
‘As an aside, Lowell voluntarily abandoned this elite course.’
In a way, you could say it’s natural for the instructors to respect Lowell.
She essentially gave up that tremendous authority of her own accord.
And she did it not for herself, but to protect the honor of her humiliated sister—more than enough to make Lowell a legend among instructors.
Anyway, it was natural for Instructor Urek to fall into deep thought.
He must have his own ‘dream,’ and in actual combat like this, he would receive higher scores than ever before.
“I see. So not just the students, but we instructors are also being evaluated.”
“Keke, that’s right.”
“Do you have any evidence of that?”
“None. But considering Lord Caron’s personality, it’s only natural.”
The fact that Caron was actually scoring the instructors wasn’t a lie.
After learning this information in the game, players decided to stop thinking of Caron as human.
An insane weapon obsessed with the Empire. That was the players’ assessment of Caron.
“Ron, is what he’s saying true?”
“Hmm? Who knows? I’ve never heard Lord Caron say anything like that.”
“I knew it. Even Lord Caron wouldn’t score us during actual combat where we need to protect students.”
“Ah, but he did tell me to talk with him briefly after everything’s over.”
“…”
Urek’s eyes darkened.
Ron had a personality that handled things carelessly. Everyone would let their guard down in front of him and reveal their true intentions.
He was the perfect candidate for observing instructors.
‘Well, Caron assigned that role to Ron for other reasons too.’
But that’s a secret, so let’s keep quiet about it.
“Well, since I’ve told you this, points have probably already been deducted.”
“…That’s true. Damn it. I’ve missed the opportunity to enter the Imperial Knights.”
The Imperial Knights.
The place instructors always chose as their first priority. Last year, a whopping thirteen people applied to the Imperial Knights.
For reference, second place was the Lucid family, followed in order by the Empire’s Eight Pillars.
While Urek was feeling slightly defeated, Ron raised his index finger and made a proposal.
“Then let’s do this. Hand Yuridia over to me. I’ll report that it was your voluntary decision.”
“…Too generous. What’s the condition?”
“Switch missions with me. I really hate anything bothersome.”
Ron’s proposal was for Urek to take his place and go to Mine No. 32 with us.
For Urek, it was the best possible proposal. Not only would he get a favorable report, but he could also bring down other instructors.
Above all, if he subdued knights at the frontlines, he could earn major points.
However.
“I refuse.”
“Huh? Why! Isn’t this an opportunity to earn achievements relatively easily?”
“Because switching missions with you—that very act would be a point deduction.”
That’s right. Assigning Ron this role wasn’t just to draw out the instructors’ carelessness, but also to see whether they would succumb to ‘temptation.’
That was part of it too.
“It might be fine to switch students’ positions, but not instructors. There’s a good reason for each instructor’s placement.”
Right. Making this place the final defensive line and successfully defending it—Urek would receive a good evaluation just for that alone.
“You were assigned that role because there’s a good reason for it too. So I won’t switch missions.”
“Aw~ Aren’t you overthinking this? Just switch with me. My legs hurt.”
When Ron tried to cling to him, Urek raised his hand and pushed him away.
Ron’s advantage and the reason Urek refused his proposal—he wanted to make Ron suffer like the people before him, but more importantly…
‘Because Ron is stronger.’
The frontlines always need strong military power.
And Urek knew Ron was stronger than him and accepted that the frontlines needed him more.
Caron would give Urek a good score.
Objective self-evaluation is difficult and not easily acknowledged.
“Ah, why nooooot! Switch with meeeee!”
Especially when it’s the clown Ron.
Urek lightly ignored Ron and spoke to Yuridia.
“Your magic would definitely be helpful. I permit your transfer. But if it becomes dangerous, you must retreat immediately.”
“Yes! Thank you for trusting me!”
[Yuridia de Rownter has become a temporary party member!]
“To be able to witness Miss Luna’s love directly. Ah, I’m so happy.”
Yuridia covered her face with both hands, making a blissful expression.
The kids who had been in her group shouted loudly.
“Miss Yuridia! You have to enjoy it for our sake too~!”
“And make sure to tell us what happened!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll take notes of every single movement! Let’s preserve it as a future cultural heritage!”
How would something like that become a cultural heritage?
That won’t happen. This world has normal people…
I couldn’t help but hesitate at the sudden sense of unease. The normal people in this world—I was the only one.
“Gazing intently at Miss Luna. Even while walking, Zero, unable to stop his love for his girlfriend…”
Murmur murmur.
Yuridia’s pen moved like crazy.
I firmly resolved that I must burn that notebook. It was when I was heading to the next fork in the path.
“Is this all you dug? A moat is essential for castle defense! You need to dig deep enough not just for the bridge, but for entire bodies to fit in!”
“S-sorry! I’ll dig deeper! So please don’t yell at me!”
Victoria was scolding someone. Surprisingly, the one she was scolding was…
“…Instructor Joan?”
Joan, the instructor in charge of Victoria’s group.
Joan was diligently shoveling under Victoria’s orders.
It was hard to tell who was the instructor and who was the student.
“Hm? Zero? Why are you all here…”
I explained the situation to Victoria. As soon as I finished, Victoria shouted.
“I want to join that party too!”
“B-but you can’t disobey orders. Especially when Lord Caron personally organized the groups…”
“The most casualties occur at the frontlines! I may be a transfer student, but they’re still my classmates! I can’t just leave them to die!”
“Eek! Alright! Do as you wish. Just please don’t get angry…”
“Oh~ Hohoho! Excellent. Annwood Academy’s strongest party is complete!”
[Victoria de Reinhardt has become a temporary party member!]
Victoria hurriedly prepared to leave.
Instructor Joan picked up the shovel and began scribbling on the ground.
— Kids these days are so scary…
— Why is that kid scolding me? Even Ash would be better at this point.
— As expected, the role of Soldier 1 who just digs is more suitable for me…
The inner thoughts spread across the ground.
As expected of a world where I’m the only normal person.
“Joan, want to switch missions with me? Being Soldier 1 must be a bit boring, right?”
“No. For someone like me, even Soldier 1 is too grand. A corpse buried in the ground would suit me better…”
Murmur murmur.
Not satisfied with venting his inner thoughts with the shovel, Joan spewed negative words.
Ron flinched and backed away. Joan’s gloominess made even the cheerful Ron retreat.
Of course, a musical was unfolding around us.
“War! Love blooming in the midst of it! I cannot miss this opportunity to witness it!”
“The ending will be sacrifice, right? This time Zero might sacrifice himself for Miss Luna!”
There won’t be war, there won’t be love, and there definitely won’t be sacrifice.
While watching the free musical(?), I headed to the next fork.
A musical was unfolding here too. The genre was… war?
“Everyone align your rows and columns! So you can respond immediately when enemies arrive!”
“Um… Miss Rodelin? Isn’t this a bit excessive? At this rate, we’ll be exhausted before we even fight.”
“This is an actual situation! More importantly, my sister is fighting, so I can’t just sit still!”
“U-uh…”
Rodelin holding binoculars and keeping watch ahead, her group members looking like walking corpses.
Even the instructor had dirt all over their body and clothes.
It was obvious what had happened without even asking.
“Enemy from behin…! No… Zero?”
“Keke, was there a fight?”
“No. It seems it’ll take a bit more time.”
Then why do they look like they’ve beaten down dozens of knights?
The instructor’s eyes widened as they heard the full story from Ron.
“Mm-hmm! I see. I think they’ll need more personnel.”
“Huh? No. We don’t absolutely need…”
“I see. Absolutely, definitely, by all means, no matter what, they need more people! Then there’s no choice. Miss Rodelin!”
“You called?”
“They say they need support. I heard you’re going to the frontlines where your senior is. Whether in terms of skill or as family, it would be best for you to go, wouldn’t it?”
“I will definitely protect everyone!”
Snap!
Rodelin’s crisp salute.
Before Ron could even ask to switch missions, the instructor clung to him and pleaded.
“I don’t need points or anything. Please…”
Just take that kid with you!

That’s pretty fun, however I have the feeling story is not progressing much.
For instance, last power-up occured around chapter 300, so more than 100 chapters!
Nah
Zero just got a big powerup less than a dozen chapters ago! The 100% activation hour glass that chain into his defense and S-rank Adonis style counter attack
He also just resolved the situation with Lowel and progress into Lucid family secret
Hoho so will everyone ended up joining?
The difference between every instructors is definitely fun
Will Alex and Raymond be left out though?
Could Ron actually be an elite rat and that the other reason Caron give him this job?
And Lerang was surprisingly good for being able to become an instructor. Was it just that his teaching skills are so good that they were lenient or he was just that all around capable? He got solo by Zero and lose to Party1 perhaps that was due to the Demon corruption?
