Merchant

Young Lord Hwangbo Uk might have blurted that out because he’d already given up on everything. But I could say with certainty that he’d made the worst possible choice. Everyone around me was stunned, and so were all the members of the Hwangbo Clan gathered here. It was bad enough that the Young Clan Lord’s…

I asked Warrior Hwangbo Seon-yu. “I’m afraid I don’t quite understand. Why are you suddenly asking whether Lady Hwangbo In-a can become an instructor at the Martial Arts Academy?” “Ah, don’t misunderstand. In-a asked me to bring it up with you.” “I’m not misunderstanding.” “It seems In-a no longer wants to sit around the clan…

I said with a sly smile. “Trade secrets are as precious as a merchant’s life, so I hope you’ll understand.” At my answer, the Clan Lord glared at me with clear displeasure. “Are you truly going to be like this?” At the same time, killing intent bore down on me. Cold sweat trickled down my…

I waited in the reception room for the Clan Lord, thinking back to how the Hwangbo Clan members had reacted earlier. They had practically lit up at the sight of the high-quality whetstones I'd brought. And no wonder. They'd been sharpening their blades far less often than usual just to conserve the whetstones they had…

The next day. I was having tea after breakfast when a maid came to find me. “The Young Clan Lord wishes to see me?” “Yes. That's correct.” “Understood.” I tossed back the rest of my tea, rose from my seat, and headed for the Young Clan Lord's office. I had a pretty good idea why…

Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought so. Warrior Hwangbo Seon-yu turned to him and asked. "Uk, is something wrong? You don't look very happy." "Ah, yes. There's actually been a problem back at the clan." Young Lord Hwangbo Uk had some difficulty continuing. "The merchant who's been supplying our clan with whetstones told…

We followed Geumryeong to where Escort Guard Jin Yu was waiting. – My lord. You're here? – What's the situation? – That physician is fleeing. – Just as we expected. I explained the Rabbit-Dung Root Herb to him. – I see. It seemed Escort Guard Jin Yu hadn't known about the Rabbit-Dung Root Herb either….

Warrior Hwangbo Seon-yu had been listening closely to their conversation. But now was the time for me to take action. It wasn't like I had all the time in the world. So I rose from my seat, approached them, and asked. "Excuse me. Is that ointment really that effective?" "And who might you be?" I…

That afternoon. At the desk to my left, Young Lord Yeon Ju-hyeok was diligently going through a stack of documents. He had all the makings of a brilliant administrator, so I still had no idea how he'd ended up so obsessed with martial arts that he decided to take me as his master. Not that…

After parting ways with Young Lord Mun Ju-seong at the Gaebong docks, my group and I headed back to Beijing. If it had only been me and my Escort Guards riding our River-Crossing Horses, we could have made the trip in no time, but with the rest of our party in tow, we couldn't travel…
